[Larry Bell]: "General Mobutu who had been a power in the Congo almost since the first day of independence quietly overthrew President Kasabuvu in 1965.  Mobutu's political party flag became the national standard and the country's name changed to ZAIRE  (1971-97). The names of the cities throughout the country were changed back to their origin African names andthe capital LEOPOLDVILLE became KINSHASA (all these native names have remained to this day)  He reign for 30 years. "
