Historical Note:  In June 1949, 6 Marines were dispatched to the American Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, which was the beginning of the Marine Security Guard Program.  A formal training program was established in November 1954 beginning the Marine Security Guard School.

Memories from the Past:  Sgt Sabatini recalls waking up one morning only to find armored personnel carriers outside the gates of the Marine House.  There had been a "bloddless" coup d'etat on February 23, 1991 in which General Suchinda  Kraprayoon had toppled the government of Prime Minister Chatichai Choonhavan.
