Photo submittion from Jason Crowell ----------------------------------- The first one was taken in late 1991, I believe, and shows the detachment with Gen Joseph Hoar, the Commanding General of CENTCOM. L-R: Cpl Jason W. Crowell, Cpl Vincent Gonzales, Sgt Robert W. Gilleland, SSgt Frederick Upchurch, Gen Hoar, Sgt Kip L. Milton, Sgt Michael S. Pyle, and Sgt Gregory I. Merritt. The second photo shows the detachment following a react drill. Back row L-R: Sgt Peron A. Lewis, Sgt Milton, SSgt Upchurch, Sgt. Gilleland. Front row L-R: Cpl Crowell, Cpl Gonzales, Sgt Merritt, and Sgt Pyle. The third shows SSgt Upchurch firing one of the detachment's Mini-14s. The range was located on the grounds of one of Jordan's royal palaces, and the King was very kind to allow us to use it. Because Amman was one of the few places in the Middle East where MSGs could practice their shooting skills, we in Amman got to go to the range quite often, as we would host MSGs from Damascus, Sana'a, and elsewhere every few months. The fourth photo shows the front of the Marine house, with a local security guard. The house was a converted apartment building, so it had something like five full kitchens, a dozen bathrooms, etc. A new embassy compound with a Marine house on site was completed around 1992. I hope several families are enjoying the old Marine house now. The fifth photo shows a very rare sight--about 8 inches of snow in Amman. We were told that it was the most snow there in about 20 years. Since I didn't see a photo of MSG School Class 3-91 on your site, I've included that, as well. I've got to go, Jack. In a while, I'll try to get some more photos to you, including some from Kingston. Keep up the good work. Jason Crowell Amman 1991-92, Kingston 1992-93
