Phillip M. Miller was my dad. He died Sept. 21, 2000. My family spent 3 1/2 years in Tripoli. I think my dad was in charge of the Marine Corps detachment (sp?) at the embassy. Any of you guys serve with him? I think he was a Gunnery or Master Sergeant at the time. I have many memories ... McLafferty, Zapone, Cpl. Buck, Mr. Ramshaw, Cusick ... camels at the Wheelus Elementary school ... Garian, Sabratha ... dad worried about problems when Kennedy was assasinated ... contact me if any of this is familiar to you ... I'd appreciate filling in some gaps that my dad didn't have time to answer.

5 APR 2004: Letter from Ms. Margie Tinsley (Capt Miller's Daughter)
Thank you so very much for your offer.
I do have photos of my father from one of his tours (?) of Vietnam.
I am embarrassed to say that I do not know his full military record.
I do know that he retired at the rank of Captain. He served during the Korean and Vietnam War (2 tours),
was in the Tokyo Honor Guard somewhere between 1953 and 1956;
a DI at MCRD in the early 60's; El Toro MCAS and MCAF; US Embassy, Tripoli Libya;
 Camp Lejeune (sp?); Little Creek Naval Base aboard USS Austin, LPD-??? ...
I will endeavor to get actual dates, ranks, et al.

For now,
Born 16 June 1930
Died 21 September 2000

Again, many thanks ... for remembering ...
Margie Miller Tinsley
Marine Military Brat
